I do pixel details. Personally, I think I have horrible art ability otherwise. A perfectionist with horrible art ability, ironic. Projects like Samurai In Space that say you don't have to be on model are a godsend. This can lead to some disturbing faces, in many cases I purposely draw a weird face outline and say "screw it, I'm using this." (the dreaded panel 3 of this page) I could never get the body, figure, head, legs, arms, etc down.
However when it comes to pixel details, look out. Give me a model or image to look at and I match it on the panel, via colors, shape, and shading. I do not trace. I do not copy and paste.
So yeah. I guess I do my best when it is NOT a figure. Objects, landscapes, open scenes.
