Now Swan, when you only like specific parts of a genre, your still a fan, just not an idiot. In anything, people tend to dislike most of "it." Take me, I actually like all three of those you just mentioned, but I will never watch any of the shit that Rishi watches. EVER. Naruto is a no go, too. Soul Eater is cool, though. 
ALSO! On the actual topic.
Evil was a bitch, but grats on finally beating it. Try the jump levels next. Hard is rough. Now I'm gonna go download Super, to try.

You vultures, you GODDAMN vultures, you're going to make me to reply to this, aren't you. You vultures are going to make me kill myself. YOU BASTARD VULTURES.
First off, while I wouldn't say this is true for Trigun, Cowboy Bebop has an amazing dub, and is one of the few anime I prefer the dub. I swear to God though, if this topic becomes a dub vs. sub debate, I will set myself on fire.
Second, I kinda wish anime would have more tongue-in-cheek humor, that is be a bit more self-aware and subtle. There is entirely too much overacting and scenery chewing in most anime. Besides, who wants tongues wagging all over the place. No one wants to see your tongue. Your tongue is garbage.
Finally, I don't mind over-the-top action, as long as that is not the pure substance of the show.
That being said, I tend to agree with Swanson's postulation that the majority of anime is garbage, but this doesn't make anime special, just an extension of the rule that the majority of EVERYTHING is garbage. For every good TV show, there are five stinkers. just like for every good Third forumer, there are a thousand morons yapping away.

1. JoJo is indeed over the top.
2. Third Srol (and by extension Srol) remains on my fag list, despite me agreeing with him. (I just hate Ed in the dub, which ruins any episode she appears in, for me)
3. I haven't gotten to that part in Super.

But Ed was suppose to be an annoying little girl. That's like hating Fey for showing too much skin or hating Spike for smoking. It's part of the character. All though, it is quite ironic that the 2 best episodes (the last 2) don't feature Ed at all.
