I stopped working on the RPG for the past couple of days. Why? Because Game Maker 8 won't run on this computer. It just won't. This shouldn't bother me, but my obsessive self lets it. Game Maker 8 has like two functions that I want, and one of them being a function that will make me slightly more productive (superior code editor), and I want to have it. So, I've been trying to get an old computer running. This old computer is a tower computer rather than a laptop like I've been using for the past few years, and is actually a lot better of a system. Except for the crashes. I think I've gotten them down to overheating. Which should have been the first thing I've looked at. As soon as I make sure it doesn't crash anymore with the new fan that I "installed" for it, I'll probably start using that computer instead for the game. Otherwise I'll have to give up on the scrapheap and keep using my old outdated game maker. Edit: Things are looking decent. I think it is an overheating problem. The CPU fan isn't working and it reaches high temperatures when running demanding software. I'm looking into seeing if an external fan can help out with the problem. OH GOD I got my laptop running by putting Windows 7 on it... and it runs faster. Even games, and getting a driver for this archaic machine was a total nightmare. Best part is GM8 works on it |
