Kio edit: This is now the megathread for all Italic RPG contributions and developments. I have to use a school computer so I can't access the folder of sharing with these files, my flash drive lost in the abyss, and the macs and non-specialty computers (where you have to be in specific classes) don't take SD cards so that's why I'm posting this here. I finished the Move code for the inventory a few days back. The Use and Trash buttons are infinitely easier to deal with, but I'm going to move on to Equipment next. Here's some more enemies I've drawn up. They don't matter, they're havin' bad times in their respective lives right now. Bear Grass. Not sure about this guy just a literal interpretation of the actual plant. ![]() Fisti-cuffalo. A buffulo who fist with his fists-hooves. ![]() My concept for a one eyed Jellyfish type enemy Kio though of. ![]() Tree Knight? Arbor Guard? Arbor-dier? I dunno hes a short chufty tree with a lance. ![]() Lampshade-Rey/ It's a lamprey with lampshade like fins on it's head. I think he'd shoot lasers of some sort. ![]() These guys are too wide: Drug Dealer and Drug Dealing Frisbee Barrel Cactus Undrawn ideas: Queen's Mace Think the flower Queen Anne's Lace: One Two Three But with with three branches off the main stem. The middle and thickest stem will have the head made of a group of flowers like in the images, the other two stems would wither also be in bloom but with smaller groups of flowers, or be buds. Edit: Just found this image of a Queen's Lace and I don;t feel like taking out the last paragraph. That could be the head and the rest would be the usual white with the spec of red. It's funny that bear grass, sword ferns, and barrel cacti are all real. Man, I need to think of enemies who don't have puns for names, this isn't pokemon. Edited by Khrene, Oct 20 2010, 04:17 PM.

Base Stats Okay, guys, one aspect to your characters that should be considered is your base stats. I'm not quite done with the formula, but here are the current aspects towards your stats: Each stat has all of these:
Base stat is any number, but should be between 10 and 120, but can exceed these numbers, and can be zero or whatever. It's a component in calculating your final stat. The level is decided in game. Your stat levels increase as you perform any action that uses that stat, including being hit (which raises health). And Stat growth dictates how much EXP you gain towards the stat when performing an action. The average value for this is 1. The formula is something like this. The exact values will change, but generally your stat level is more important than the base stat, and the stat grows exponentially based on your stat's level: ((BaseStat * 1.5) * ((Stat Level * 1.7) ^ 1.2) + 20 )/50 Here is a rough idea of Kiorein's base stats: Health: 70 Power: 65 Energy: 65 Strength: 50 Magic: 70 Defense: 70 M. Defense: 75 Speed: 45 Resistance: 80 Vitality: 35 Cool: 25 Spirit: 110 Total: 760 (735 w/o Cool) Average: 63.3 (66.8 w/o Cool) 40 is a BELOW AVERAGE stat 60 is an ADEQUATE stat, it means that you can get by with it. 80 is a GOOD stat 100 is an EXCELLENT stat 120 is a-- HAHA SUPERB!!! Stat descriptions: Health - Amount of damage that can be taken before dying, etc Power - Resource used for performing most magic, and some other actions Energy - Resource used for performing most actions, including magic Strength - Stat used for physical attacks and some magic Defense - Stat used to protect from physical type damage (can include magical attacks) Magic - Inverse of Strength M. Defense - Inverse of Defense Speed - Dictates how often you can make a move Resistance - Protection against status effects based around magic Vitality - Protection against status effects not based around magic Cool - Usually the lowest stat, this stat is similar to luck, but also generally is included in most game mechanics in some way, including damage calculation, and attack costs Spirit - Enhances the duration of positive status changes, and increases resistance to stat reduction So post the general idea for your base stats today. Your total should not go below Kio's, but can exceed his, but not by too much. |

YOU HAVE MAGIC DEFENSE, AND MAGIC STATUS EFFECT DEFENSE, SEPARATED YOU ASSHOLE Pregga Zexas Health: 105 Power: 40 Energy: 40 Strength: 95 Magic: 30 Defense: 90 Magic Defense: 70 Speed: 50 Resistance: 70 Vitality: 90 Cool: 45 Spirit: 60 Total: 785 (740) Avg: 65 (67) Kio edit: Reduced Cool (cool is supposed to be a very low stat in general), and pumped those stats into M. The point of having magic resistance and vitality separate from magic defense and defense. This isn't that many stats, it really, really isn't that many. Most games have the basics (HP, MP, STR, DEF, MAG, M.DEF, AGIL), and then might throw in LUCK and DEX. However, my system for status effects is based on a level of affectedness (ranging from 0 to 5); and a stat is needed to decide the effect of an ability. However if I just made "Magic Defense" block all status effects, it would oversimplify the system and underpower ailments; the obvious choice would be to maximize the defenses and it'll cover both damage AND ailments; so screw that. I'm sorry if it was so difficult to fill out two or three stats past convention. |

Sup dawg, did somebody say "Inventory"? No??? Nobody said anything for almost an entire year??? WHAT??? ![]() The inventory is about 85% done! Alright faggggs, it's time to discuss Essence! Essence is a resource system that Khrene and I planned out for the game. Think of it like energy cards from Pokemon TCG. If you don't know what that is, then you're out of luck. Every character will have a Pool of (about) 60 Essences. Throughout battle, by performing various actions they can Draw these Essences. These Essences are then used for their more powerful abilities. Essences are divided into types, these types being:
Different abilities will require different Essences, and each character's abilities will focus on using certain essences.
