What’s going on here? Well if you’ve never been in your local comic or RPG shop on a Saturday morning, you might not understand, but this is what happens when parents give their kids too much of an allowance. First they get the money. Then they spend the money on little rectangular cardboard shapes that maybe have vaguely Japanese-sounding names. What do those cardboard shapes represent? We’re getting there, hold your horses. Now they’ve got a card game, of the Yu-ghi-oh variety (pronounced ‘Yo-gweedo’). They want to play that game somewhere. One things for certain, they cannot do it in your house. You just had the basement finished and they’ll make a mess of things. And the kitchen? Are you mad? After all the mopping you did? You might as well declare it a pig sty now and get it over with. So they’ve got to leave the house. Where are they going to go? Starbucks says they can’t go there, they don’t seem like they’re playing the game ironicly. The bookstore took them for a while, but soon found out that they kept on becoming landmines in the manga section. The church says they can play there, but that seems downright creepy when you think about it given the game’s un-Christian undertones. So who ends up dealing with them? The honor guard at the Fortress, that’s who. You’re welcome. |
